“I can’t believe I’m really about to do this.” Courtney smiled at her mom.
The wedding would be stating in about twenty minutes. Courtney had always wanted a big wedding so that’s what she was getting. Everything was going as planned. She had each of her bridesmaids where a pink short strapless dress that came down to their knees. She had picked her cousin Rachel who was just a year younger than herself, her best friend Becky from high school, her cousin Kelly who was twenty-four, and her friend Jessica, to be her bridesmaids. For the ring barer she got Kelly’s four year old Cory and for a flower girl she got Duncan’s cousin Kaley who had just turned six. Everything was going to be beautiful.
“Just think about it…you and Duncan…college in the fall at NYU…and your together forever.” Her mother smiled at her.
“Yeah. I’m happy mom.” She walked over to where her mom stood and grasped her into a hug. “I’m going to miss you mama.”
“I’m going to miss you, too.” Her mom hugged her back tightly as if her life depended on it. “My little girls all grown up.”
“Aw mom.” Courtney sighed and pulled away from her mom. “You’re going to see me again. A lot, and Duncan.”
“I better. I’m going to be missing you two like crazy.” She laughed and wiped a stray tear from her cheek.
“Hard to think high school is already over. I mean…wow…”
After Duncan had asked her to marry him everything had been absolutely wonderful. School was fine…and afterwards she always had her friends and Duncan to be with. Everything had gone by so fast.
“Yep. Things go by so fast.” Her mom sighed.
  “Sometimes too fast.” Courtney laughed.
  “Are you nervous?” Lori smiled.
“You know I am. But I’m so happy at the same time.” Courtney gushed.
“I’m so happy your happy Courtney.”
“Ooh my gosh mom! I’m the first of the kids to get married!” Courtney laughed and put a hand over her mouth.
  “Yes you are.” Lori nodded.
There was a knock on the door and in popped Slate’s head. “Are you just now realizing that?”
“No…it just…kinda hit me.” Courtney laughed.
“Can I come in?” Slate asked.
“Yeah, come on in.” She nodded.
“My little sister; come here.” Slate told her.
“Aw Slatey.” Courtney wrapped her arms around Slate to get a hug. “I’m going to miss you.”
“I’m going to miss you, too.” Slate told her. “Promise; don’t forget to call us.”
“I can promise you that a million times. You’ll be hearing from me so much that you just might get tired of me.”
“We could never get tired of our little sister!” Came another voice and in came Jordan.
“Aw! Jordan!” Courtney held out her arms for a hug from her oldest brother.
“Come ‘mere Court.” He said as he wrapped his arms around his sister.
“Aw! Imma miss you too!” Courtney laughed into Jordan’s chest.
“I’ll being missing you too Court.” Jordan laughed back. “But you know, this isn’t good bye…your not leaving yet.”
“I know…but…” Courtney smiled up at Jordan. “I getting married and going to college…”
Jordan chuckled. “I guess your right.”
  “Of course I’m right!”
“When is she not always right?” Drew asked as he came though in the door.
“Drew!” Courtney called wiggling her fingers and her arms wide for her brother.
“Court!” He called back laughing. He wrapped his arms around his sister in a big hug. “Sorry it took my a little while to get over here, I was over with Duncan.”
“I miss him already…” She laughed. She hadn’t gotten to see him all day.
“You’ll see him soon.” Drew laughed along with his mom and other brothers.
“I’m going to miss you Drew.”
“I’m going to miss you too Court.” He gave her a squeeze before letting her go.
“Where’s dad?” Courtney asked the room.
“He should be coming. When I left he was talking to Duncan.” Drew told the room of family.
“What!? What’s he going to say?” Courtney asked.
Her mom laughed. “Court; he was just talking to him. That’s it.”
  Courtney sighed. “Okay.”
“Knock knock.” Her dad said as he walked into the door.
“Dad, I heard you were talking to Duncan?” She asked.
  “Yeah.” He nodded.
She put her hand onto her hip. “What about?”
“Just talking Court. Nothing bad.” He laughed.
“Fine.” Courtney sighed and laid her hand back to her side as she walked over to her dad.
He wrapped Courtney up in a tight hug. “I can’t believe my little girl is getting married.”
“I love him dad. I’m happy.” She told him.
“Good. I’m glad.” He rubbed her back. “I’m going to miss you.”
  “I gonna miss you, too.”
“You look amazing Courtney.” Her dad told her once they ended their hug.
“Thank you.” Courtney smiled looking down at herself. She had picked a beautiful white dress that ruffled out near the bottom and had tons of sequins with thin white straps.
“Just what I told her.” Lori smiled and took Don’s hand in hers.

“Duncan, I’m so happy for you…” Duncan’s mom gushed. “Our little baby’s growing up.” She said to his dad.
“I’m happy, too mom.” Duncan smiled to his mom.
“I’m gonna miss seeing you everyday.” His mom sighed. She walked over to where Duncan was standing in front on the mirror.
“I’m going to miss you, too.” Duncan looked to his mom and pulled her into a hug. “I know it’s not everyday I say this but, you’re the best mom.”
She smiled up at Duncan and tears started to roll down her check. “I am so happy you have Courtney…but I’m going to miss you like crazy. You better call me.”
“I will.” Duncan promised. “Why are you crying?” He asked as he wiped tears from her cheek.
  “Because I’m happy.” She laughed.
  Duncan smiled. “Good.” He laughed.
“Hey dad.” Duncan told him as his dad came into the room.
“Hey.” He walked over to them. “We’re about to have to go out there.”
“Are you ready?” His mom asked smiling.
“Yeah. I can’t wait for her to be mine. I know that it sounds funny but” Duncan was cut off.
“We know whatcha mean.” His dad laughed as he wrapped an arm around Duncan’s mom.
Duncan looked back into the mirror. He was wearing a black tux and bowtie looking about as classy as ever…but handsome. His best man was, of course his dad. While the groomsman were Jordan, Slate, and Drew.
“You look very handsome.” His mom appraised.
  “Thank you.” He smiled.

“Courtney?” There was a knock on the door.
Don opened the door and in walked the pastor. “We’re ready for you.” He told Courtney.
She took a deep breath and smiled nodding. “Okay.”
Courtney gave her mom a quick kiss and hug before her mom ran out to take her seat. Her brothers had left just before to take their places next to Duncan. Courtney and her dad walked out of the room and waited for their turn to walk out.
“You ready?” Her dad whispered. They were up next. The bridesmaids, the flower girl, and the ring barer were already walking down the isle.
  “Yes.” She whispered back.
Then they started though the doors and down the isle. There were flowers everywhere. She locked her eyes on Duncan’s. She’d be with him forever. He was smiling as big as ever, and so was she. All eyes were on her. When they stopped in front of the pastor and beside Duncan her dad kissed her and went to take his sent besides her mom. She smiled at Duncan and he smiled back at her.
“Dearly beloved we are gathered here in the presence of God to join these two together in holy matrimony.” The pastor began.
When it was time for the vows Courtney went first. “Duncan, when we first met, I never thought we would wind up here. We were different. But, after I got to know you, I just liked you more and more. You made me see things in a whole different way. You always know how to make me feel better. I love you more than I thought I could love anyone. I love everything about you. You mean everything in the world to me. I want to be with you for the rest of my life.”
Duncan smiled at Courtney and then started. “When I saw you I knew I had to get to know you. There was something about you that I really liked. After I got to know you though I realized that what I liked was…you…I liked you; everything about you. I would always get these feelings when I was around you, or when I thought about you. I still do. It didn’t take me too long to realize that those feelings where love and that I would never be able to be without you again.”
Courtney smiled and wiped a stray tear from her cheek.
“May we have the rings?” The pastor asked.
Cory gave the rings to pastor then the pastor went on to giving the rings to Courtney and Duncan.
“Do you Courtney Marie Turner take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?” The pastor asked.
  “I do.”
Duncan slipped the sparkling diamond onto Courtney’s finger.
“Do you Duncan Michael West take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?” The pastor asked.
  “I do.”
Courtney slipped the ring onto his finger.
“If there should be any party who objects to this union speak now or forever hold your peace.” The pastor said. They waited a moment before going on. “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
Duncan wrapped his arms around Courtney and they kissed. Courtney was now and forever going to be Courtney Marie West. After there would be a wedding reception, and later they would be on their way to their honeymoon in Hawaii, but they weren’t thinking about any of that, they were thinking about right then and there, that kiss.
